Finalist: New Zealand Geographic Photographer of the Year 2026
I'm delighted to share that my image "Threshold," from my Solitude collection, has been selected as a finalist in the Landscape category of the 2026 New Zealand Geographic Photographer of the Year.
Threshold, Ross Sea, Antarctica, 2026
Threshold was photographed from within a crack running into the face of the Ross Ice Shelf, in New Zealand's Antarctic Dependency, earlier this year. As the 24-hour daylight of the Antarctic summer came to an end, the sun touched the horizon for the first time in months, and sunset and sunrise merged into hours of shifting colour above the ice. Standing in front of something at that scale, the difficulty was never finding a picture — it was finding the one frame that held the feeling of being there.
It's a real privilege to see this image recognised among the finalists, chosen from thousands of entries across the country. The finalist images will be exhibited at Britomart, Auckland, opening next month.
