Richard teaches a small number of workshops, masterclasses and mentoring programmes each year through New Zealand Photography Workshops, the company he founded in 2013.

These experiences are shaped by the same approach that defines his fine art practice — slow, immersive time in the landscape, an emphasis on personal expression, and the craft of the fine art print. They range from printing intensives and small-group retreats with guest artists to expedition tours in Japan, Scotland and Antarctica.
