In an era of digital portfolios, the folio box set revives something close to lost: owning a complete, tactile collection of an artist's work, held in the hand rather than scrolled past. The form was pioneered by photographers like Ansel Adams and Eliot Porter, and it remains the most complete way to experience a body of work — not as single images, but as a whole.
Silence I is a series of twelve photographs made in the New Zealand high country between 2020 and 2022. Delicate deciduous trees, misty peaks, and the spaces between them — a contemporary vision of Aotearoa that strips away the identifiable location and asks you to listen to the landscape instead.
The complete series is presented here as a handcrafted folio box set, designed to hold the series as a single object.

The edition
Every photograph in the Silence I collection is printed to a limited edition of 45, inclusive of all print sizes. Production of the folio box sets has been limited to 25 — deliberately fewer than the edition allows — so that larger prints can still be made from within the same edition. Once the twenty-fifth set is complete, no further sets will be made.
